Hindu Sena Demands Aurangzeb to be Declared a ‘Barbaric Ruler’
Hindu Sena on Aurangzeb: Hindu Sena’s national president, Vishnu Gupta, has urged the Indian government to officially declare Mughal ruler Aurangzeb a ‘barbaric ruler.’ He has written a letter to the Union Home Minister, requesting that all roads and places named after Aurangzeb be renamed and that his tomb be excavated, with his remains being immersed in the Arabian Sea.
In his letter, Vishnu Gupta stated, “Aurangzeb committed atrocities against Hindus and people of other religions during his reign. He ascended the throne by killing his own brothers and imprisoned his father, Shah Jahan. He even prevented his daughters from getting married. Aurangzeb was responsible for the brutal killings of Guru Tegh Bahadur, Gokula Jat, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Additionally, he demolished several Hindu temples and monasteries and imposed the Jizya tax on non-Muslims.”

Hindu Sena’s Letter Mentions Laden
In the letter to the Home Minister, the Hindu Sena chief emphasized that Aurangzeb’s intolerance and fanaticism caused immense suffering to millions. He argued that India is a peaceful, multicultural nation and should not glorify such figures. Citing the example of the United States, he suggested that just as Osama bin Laden’s remains were disposed of in the sea, Aurangzeb’s tomb should be removed and replaced with a school or hospital for the poor.
Hindu Sena’s Demands:
1. Aurangzeb should be officially declared a barbaric ruler, and any glorification of him should be made a punishable offense.
2. All roads and places named after Aurangzeb should be renamed.
3. Aurangzeb’s tomb should be excavated, his remains destroyed, and the site should be used to build a school or hospital for the underprivileged.
Aurangzeb Ruled for Nearly 50 Years
It is noteworthy that Aurangzeb ruled India for nearly 50 years, from 1658 to 1707. During his reign, he promoted religious discrimination and fanaticism. According to many historians, Aurangzeb did not even spare his own family in his quest for power. His decrees led to the destruction of numerous temples, the imprisonment of several regional rulers, and the imposition of religious taxes on the common people. Hindu Sena has urged the government to take swift action on their demands.
