Extreme Rain Alert: Weather to Change Again in Several Parts of the Country
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), a new western disturbance is expected to become active from February 25, impacting primarily the northern and northwestern states. Due to this system, Jammu and Kashmir may experience heavy rain and snowfall between February 25 and 28. Similarly, Himachal Pradesh is likely to witness heavy rain and snowfall from February 26 to 28, while Uttarakhand may see similar conditions between February 27 and 28.
Impact of the Western Disturbance on Northwestern India
The effect of this western disturbance will not be limited to hilly regions but will also extend to the plains of northwestern India. Between February 26 and 28, light to moderate rainfall is expected in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
According to IMD, maximum temperatures in the plains of northwestern India may rise by up to 2°C in the next 24 to 48 hours. However, after that, a drop of 3 to 5°C is expected. In central India, temperatures are not expected to change significantly in the next 24 hours, but they may increase by 2 to 4°C afterward.

Possibility of Rain in Northeast and South India
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted lightning and thunderstorms in parts of Northeast India, including Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh. There is also a possibility of hailstorms in some areas of these states. Additionally, Gujarat, Konkan-Goa, and coastal Karnataka may experience thunderstorms with rain over the next three days.
In South India, Tamil Nadu and Kerala have been issued warnings for thunderstorms and rain. Meanwhile, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are likely to witness heavy rainfall.

Western Disturbance: One system is present over northern Pakistan and adjoining areas, while another is forming over northern Iran.
Cyclonic Circulation: A cyclonic system is present over eastern Assam, which may lead to heavy rainfall in the northeastern states.
Trough System: A trough extends from West Bengal (Ganges region) to southern Chhattisgarh, which may result in light to moderate rainfall in these areas.

February 26 to March 1: Heavy to very heavy snowfall and rainfall are expected in the western Himalayan region.
February 26 to March 1: Light to moderate rainfall is likely in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh.

February 27 and 28: Some districts of northern Rajasthan may experience light rainfall.
