Mahakumbh 2025: On the occasion of the third Amrit Snan of the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, devotees from across the country and the world began gathering at the Triveni Sangam from Monday morning itself, on the day of Basant Panchami. By late night, nearly 2.5 crore people had taken a holy dip in the Sangam in faith.

At the Sangam Ghat, while Naga saints and common devotees were taking a holy dip, flowers were showered from a helicopter. During this, the devotees chanted “Har Har Gange.” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt wishes to the devotees on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
On Basant Panchami, the saints and ascetics of the akharas set out for the royal bath, seen with weapons and arms. Some were riding on horses accompanied by drums and cymbals, while others were seen advancing towards the Triveni Sangam in palanquins.

After the stampede during the Amrit Snan on Mouni Amavasya last month, additional police personnel were deployed at all major sites for crowd management during the Amrit Snan on Basant Panchami. The stampede incident resulted in at least 30 deaths and 60 other injuries.

On Basant Panchami, 10 lakh Kaalpavasis took a holy dip in the Ganges and Sangam while meditating on Goddess Saraswati. Over 10 lakh Kaalpavasis are currently performing their Kaalpavas in the Mahakumbh area. Their month-long Kaalpavas will conclude with the bathing ritual on the upcoming Maghi Purnima, after which they will depart for their destinations.
