The Union Home Minister addressed a conference of slum leaders and promised to resolve all their problems. The party tried to make issues like poor water supply and unemployment in these settlements a key focus. Additionally, the Prime Minister handed over keys to flats to several slum dwellers, sending the message that the BJP is the party that can fulfill the promise of houses where there were once slums.

The BJP campaigned extensively in slum areas to promote this scheme, trying to convey that the Delhi government has not done anything for the welfare of slum dwellers.
