A major accident occurred on Tuesday morning in Baghpat district of Uttar Pradesh. During the Nirvana Laddu festival of Lord Adinath, a wooden structure collapsed in the Man Stambh complex. The collapsing stairs buried people underneath, resulting in the death of seven individuals and injuring more than 80 others.
A major accident occurred on Tuesday morning in Baraut town of Baghpat district, Uttar Pradesh. During the Nirvana Laddu festival of Lord Adinath at the Man Stambh complex, a wooden platform collapsed. Seven devotees, including two women and five men, lost their lives after being trapped under the fallen stairs. Over 80 devotees were injured in the incident.
There is a strong protest by the families and community members against conducting post-mortems on the deceased. They surrounded the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP), leading to heated arguments. SP Arpit Vijayvargiya, along with a police force, has reached the site and is engaged in rescue and relief efforts.
The injured include women, men, and children. Due to the unavailability of ambulances, some of the injured were transported to the hospital using e-rickshaws.
According to the information, a tragic incident occurred on Gandhi Road in Baraut city. The wooden base of the “Man Stambh” (a religious pillar) erected in the field of Shri Digambar Jain Degree College collapsed. Seven people lost their lives, and over 80 others were injured after being trapped under the collapsed temporary stairs. A religious program was scheduled for Tuesday as part of the Nirvana Mahotsav, for which a 65-foot-tall platform had been constructed.
As devotees climbed the temporary stairs placed to perform the abhishek (ritual bathing) of the idol installed in the “Man Stambh,” the structure suddenly gave way, causing over 80 devotees to fall and get trapped. Seven lives were lost in the tragedy. The incident caused panic among the devotees, and there was a stampede. The injured were rushed to the hospital promptly. Upon receiving the news, SP Bagpat Arpit Vijayvargiya arrived at the scene with police personnel and began relief and rescue operations.

CM Yogi has taken cognizance of the accident in Baghpat district. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the district administration officials to ensure the immediate transportation of the injured to the hospital and provide them with proper treatment. He has also wished for the swift recovery of the injured.
