Before being released, Hamas militants gave Israeli female soldiers a gift packet. In a propaganda video by Hamas, the Israeli female soldiers were forced to show it. Inside the gift bag, there was also a certificate.
Jerusalem: Under the ceasefire agreement with Israel, Hamas released four Israeli female soldiers on Saturday, January 25. However, before their release, Hamas militants forced the Israeli female soldiers to display a gift package. In Hamas’ propaganda video, the soldiers were made to show the gift, which contained a framed certificate and a keychain, serving as a reminder of their 15 months of nightmare in Gaza.
Release After 15 Months
Hamas recorded and released this video when the Israeli hostages—Karina Ariv (20), Daniela Gilboa (20), Nama Levi (20), and Liri Elbag—were handed over to the Red Cross. The four female soldiers were abducted from Israel during Hamas’ terrorist attack on October 7, 2023, and had been held in Gaza ever since.
What was in the female soldiers’ certificate?
According to a report by the British newspaper The Sun, the female soldiers were handed a certificate and a keychain with a Palestinian flag, along with a ‘prisoner release form.’ All the gifts came in a brown bag, which bore the emblem of Hamas’ armed wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, on the front.

Parade on Stage
After receiving the gift, the female soldiers were taken to a stage set up by Hamas. Dozens of armed and masked militants from Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad surrounded the stage at a square in Gaza. After walking peacefully onto the stage with their captors, the four soldiers waved at the crowd gathered by Hamas. They were then handed over to the Red Cross, which was mediating in the hostage exchange.
