Congress Offers Akash Anand:

The internal political turmoil within the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is being seen as an opportunity by Congress. Accusing Mayawati of transforming BSP into a BJP-aligned party, Congress leader Udit Raj has invited Akash Anand to join Congress.

“Displayed an Aggressive Stance Against BJP”

Udit Raj stated, “BSP, which was born out of a social movement, has now become aligned with BJP. During the 2022 Uttar Pradesh elections, Mayawati had appealed that the Samajwadi Party should not win, even if BJP does. During the Lok Sabha elections, when Akash Anand took an aggressive stance against BJP, he was removed from his position as Coordinator within 24 hours.”

Congress Extends an Offer to Akash Anand

Congress leader Udit Raj further said, “Mayawati is under pressure from investigative agencies. That’s why she removed Akash Anand twice from the position of National Coordinator and ultimately expelled him from the party.” When asked about Akash Anand joining Congress, Udit Raj stated, “He is welcome in Congress. If he is willing, I will arrange for him to meet Rahul Gandhi.” He also claimed that common BSP workers and supporters are gradually shifting towards Congress because Rahul Gandhi speaks for Dalits and backward communities and ensures their representation in the organization.

Mayawati Takes Action Against Akash Anand

On March 2, 2025, Mayawati removed Akash Anand from all key positions in the party. She stated, “Following the footsteps of Kanshi Ram, Ashok Siddharth—who is also Akash Anand’s father-in-law—has been expelled from the party in the interest of the BSP movement. He worked to divide the party into factions, weakening it across Uttar Pradesh and the entire country.”

Mayawati has replaced her younger brother Anand Kumar with senior leader Randhir Beniwal as the party’s National Coordinator.
