Washington: After a debate with U.S. President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refused to apologize for the incident between him and his American counterpart during an exclusive interview with Fox News. “We didn’t say anything wrong to Trump”
Zelensky emphasized that if the U.S. withdraws its support, it will become difficult for Ukraine to defend itself against Russia. He expressed regret that his heated exchange with Trump was broadcast on television but insisted, “I respect President Trump. I respect the American people. I don’t think we said anything wrong.”
When the interviewer asked if he should apologize to Trump, Zelensky firmly replied, “No.” He called the situation “really difficult” and questioned, “Where is our friendship?” Zelensky reaffirmed his commitment to justice and lasting peace in Ukraine, emphasizing that “the mineral deal is part of the security guarantee framework.”
Trump reprimands Zelensky
During a meeting in the Oval Office on Friday, President Donald Trump lashed out at Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Trump accused Zelensky of “endangering millions of lives by engaging in war with Russia.” He strongly criticized the Ukrainian leader, warning that his actions could trigger “World War III.”
The discussion between Trump, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, and Zelensky lasted approximately 45 minutes, with the final 10 minutes turning into a heated argument among the three leaders.
