
The weather is set to change once again, as the receding winter brings rain along with it. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a fresh western disturbance will have its impact between February 25 and 28. As a result, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will experience light to moderate rainfall, with chances of thunderstorms and lightning. Snowfall is also expected at various locations. From February 26 to March 1, Punjab and Haryana are likely to witness scattered to moderate rainfall. Between February 27 and March 1, western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan may also receive rainfall. On February 24, the weather will change in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, with a possibility of hailstorms in some places. The weather department has already issued an alert regarding this.
In the national capital, Delhi, light fog covered the city on Monday morning, affecting traffic. The recent rainfall has led to a slight increase in cold conditions. According to the weather department, the maximum temperature today is expected to be around 27°C, while the minimum temperature may be around 11°C. On Sunday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 26.7°C, which was 1.2°C above the seasonal average. The sky remained mostly clear during the day. The minimum temperature was recorded at 10.3°C, while humidity levels ranged between 96% and 44%. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 143 at 6 PM, falling into the “moderate” category.
Rain and Snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir for the Next 4 Days
In Jammu & Kashmir, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are expected at most places from February 25 onwards for four days. Until Monday, the weather is likely to remain generally dry. From February 25 until the end of the month, cloudy skies and light to moderate rain and snowfall are expected in most areas. In Srinagar, the minimum temperature dropped to 0.0°C late at night, while the ski resort of Gulmarg recorded -5.6°C, the tourist resort of Pahalgam recorded -4.3°C, and Qazigund recorded -0.6°C. The maximum temperatures in the Kashmir region saw a slight rise of 2-4°C, with Srinagar and Kupwara recording 15.2°C, while Pahalgam recorded 11.0°C.
