The demand for Mahindra Thar Rocks is so high that the waiting period for this off-road SUV has reached up to 1.5 years. The company has increased Thar’s production and is preparing more than 9,000 units of Thar 3-door and Rocks 5-door. The monthly ratio of production is 30:70. Despite this, customers still have to wait up to 18 months for some variants. The base trim, MX1, of Thar Rocks has the longest waiting period.
According to Mahindra dealers, the longest waiting period is for the base-spec MX1 of Thar Rocks. This trim is available in both petrol-manual and diesel-manual variants. Its ex-showroom price ranges from ₹12.99 lakh to ₹13.99 lakh. On the other hand, the top trim Rocks AX7L 4×4 variant also has a delivery time of 18 months. This trim is available in both diesel-manual and diesel-automatic versions, with an ex-showroom price between ₹21.59 lakh and ₹23.09 lakh.
The mid-spec Thar Rocks variants, including MX3 (₹14.99 lakh to ₹17.49 lakh), AX3L (₹16.99 lakh), MX5 (₹16.49 lakh to ₹19.09 lakh), and AX5L (₹18.99 lakh to ₹21.09 lakh), have a delivery wait time of up to 6 months. Meanwhile, the top-spec Thar Rocks AX7L 4×2 (₹19.49 lakh to ₹20.99 lakh) variants have a delivery time of 10 months. The 3-door Thar model has a waiting period of approximately 5 months.
Currently, the price range for Mahindra Thar is between ₹11.50 lakh and ₹17.60 lakh. It comes with a 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearbox, as well as a 2.0-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-liter diesel engine. The 3-door model also offers an entry-level 1.5-liter diesel engine, available only in the manual variant. Despite the company’s increased production of Thar compared to last year, the waiting period has not decreased.
