A fire broke out once again at the Mahakumbh Mela. The fire brigade quickly controlled the fire. Thanks to the extensive preparations made by the Yogi government in advance, the administration was able to prevent a major disaster on Friday. Special preparations for firefighting had been made in the mela area. The fire broke out suddenly at the camps of Swami Hariharanand and Sukhdevanand in Mahakumbh Nagar, located on Old GT Road. Upon receiving the report, a dozen fire brigade vehicles from the Mahakumbh area immediately reached the scene.

Chief Fire Officer Pramod Sharma stated that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the ISKCON area. As a result, 20 to 22 tents were burned. However, the good news was that no lives were lost in the incident. The firefighters acted swiftly to prevent the fire from spreading. As soon as the incident was reported, the zonal police officer of Northern Jhusi, Additional SP Suresh Kumar Mishra, local police, and the mela magistrate arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The administration has urged devotees to be cautious and immediately inform authorities in case of any emergency.

To prevent fire incidents during the Mahakumbh, the Yogi government has made extensive arrangements. A total of 50 fire stations and 20 fire posts have been set up across the mela area. In case of any emergency, 4,300 fire hydrants have been deployed. To make the Mahakumbh a fire accident-free zone, the Yogi government has allocated a budget of ₹66.75 crore to the department, while the departmental budget is ₹64.73 crore. In total, equipment and vehicles worth ₹131.48 crore have been deployed to protect the Mahakumbh from fire accidents. Moreover, over 351 different types of firefighting vehicles and more than 2,000 trained personnel have been deployed. Each of the akhada tents has also been equipped with fire-fighting tools. Before the start of the mela, several mock drills were organized with NDRF and SDRF, which played a significant role in preventing accidents.
