Will Bumrah Play in Champions Trophy 2025? Major Update on His Fitness
New Delhi: Team India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness remains a major concern ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While India’s squad for the tournament has already been announced, the final team selection is still subject to change. As per ICC regulations, all eight participating teams can make squad modifications until February 11.

Bumrah Undergoes Fitness Tests at NCA
According to a Times of India report, Bumrah has reported to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he will undergo rigorous medical evaluations under the supervision of specialists. These tests will determine whether he is fit enough to participate in the Champions Trophy.
Bumrah is expected to remain under NCA specialists’ observation for the next 2-3 days. Once his medical examination is complete, the final report will be sent to the selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar.
Agarkar’s Previous Statement on Bumrah’s Fitness
Last month, BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed during a press conference that Bumrah was given a five-week rest period and would miss the first two ODIs against England. Agarkar had also stated that a final decision regarding Bumrah’s participation in the Champions Trophy would be made in early February after reviewing his medical reports.
One Week Left for Team India’s Final Decision
With just one week remaining until the February 11 deadline, Team India must decide whether to retain Bumrah in the squad. To prove his match fitness, Bumrah might have to play in the third ODI against England before a final call is made.
This crucial period will determine whether India’s pace spearhead will be ready to lead the bowling attack in the Champions Trophy 2025 or if the selectors will have to look for a replacement. Stay tuned for further updates!
