The Bhopal-Rewa Vande Bharat train (20173) departing from Bhopal is not getting enough passengers. On the other hand, the Indore-Bhopal train, which operates three days a week (11704), is always running full. This train from Indore consistently has a waiting list.

Indore’s Reewanchal and Vindhyachal groups have raised a demand to extend the Bhopal-Rewa Vande Bharat train to Indore, providing an additional option for passengers traveling from Indore to Rewa.
According to railway sources, the Bhopal-Rewa Vande Bharat train runs mostly empty. Further, booking through the IRCTC website revealed that the train is only fully booked on four days in February, with available seats on other days.
On the other hand, the Rewa Express from Indore has a waiting list throughout the month. As per railway information, the Bhopal-Rewa Vande Bharat train runs six days a week, except on Tuesdays. The train departs from Rani Kamalapati Station at 3:30 PM, passing through Narmadapuram, Itarsi Junction, Pipariya, Narsinghpur, Jabalpur, Katni, Maihar, and Satna, and reaches Rewa at 11:30 PM.
On the return journey from Rewa, the train departs at 5:20 AM and reaches Bhopal at 1:30 PM. The train covers a distance of 568 km, but it is not fully booked. Various organizations representing residents of the Vindhya region in Indore argue that extending the Vande Bharat train to Indore would not only increase its passenger count but also provide a better option for travelers to Rewa.
Vindhya region residents’ convenience should be considered by the railway
Dr. R.N. Mishra, Media In-charge of the Vindhyanchal Social Group in Indore, states that the Bhopal-Rewa Vande Bharat train should be operated regularly to Indore. Considering the convenience of the residents of the Vindhya region, the railway should reconsider this decision.
Currently, passengers traveling from Indore to Rewa rely on buses, which operate three days a week, in addition to the Indore-Rewa train. These buses are always full, and passengers have to pay higher fares, ranging from 1250 to 2000 rupees. Therefore, there is a need for a direct and faster train to Rewa.
