Prayagraj: A fire broke out in several tents at the Chatnag Ghat police station area during the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The fire department responded swiftly, extinguishing the blaze. No casualties have been reported.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a judicial probe into the tragic stampede that occurred on Wednesday. The CM also announced a compensation of ₹25 lakh for the families of the deceased.

Stampede at Maha Kumbh: 30 Dead, 60 Injured
At least 30 people lost their lives, and 60 others were injured in a stampede that took place in the early hours of Wednesday. According to police officials, 25 bodies have been identified, while efforts are underway to identify the remaining victims.
Among the deceased, some were from other states, including four from Karnataka, one from Assam, and one from Gujarat.

The tragic incident occurred when devotees began gathering at the Sangam Nose from 7:35 PM on Tuesday, coinciding with the mahurat for Mauni Amavasya. By 2:00 AM on Wednesday, the crowd had surged into an overwhelming sea of devotees, leading to the unfortunate stampede.
Ambulances were immediately dispatched to transport the injured and deceased to the Central Hospital at Mahakumbh Nagar, while critically injured individuals were referred to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital for further treatment.

Maha Kumbh 2025: Key Updates
The Maha Kumbh began on January 13 and will continue until February 26.
Devotees from across India and the world are participating in the sacred event.
On the occasion of Mauni Amavasya, over 57.1 million devotees took a holy dip in the Triveni waters, according to the Uttar Pradesh Information Department.
The next Amrit Snan is scheduled for Basant Panchami on February 3.
