Prime Minister Narendra Modi may flag off a special train from Katra. The Railway Safety Commissioner has given clearance to start train services on the Katra-Baramulla section. However, the inauguration date from PM Modi’s side has not been announced yet.
Indian Railways has given another big reason for joy to its passengers. On Saturday, the first trial run of the Vande Bharat train was successfully conducted from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra railway station to Srinagar railway station. This Vande Bharat Express train has been specially designed to operate without interruptions during the challenging winter conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. The train, which arrived in Jammu on Friday, carried a large number of passengers eager to experience the enchanting journey through Kashmir.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi may flag off a special train from Katra soon. The Commissioner of Railway Safety has already given approval to operate train services on the Katra-Baramulla section. However, the date for the flagging-off ceremony by PM Modi has not been announced yet. Indian Railways has completed the 272-kilometer-long Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project. According to railway officials, the Railway Board unveiled the Vande Bharat Express train on June 8, specially designed to operate seamlessly on the challenging Katra-Srinagar route in Jammu and Kashmir. The train is equipped with special climate-related features.
What Makes Jammu’s Vande Bharat Special?
Currently, 136 Vande Bharat Express trains are operational across various parts of the country. In comparison, this train has additional features to address operational challenges and cater to passenger needs in Jammu and Kashmir’s extreme weather conditions. The special train includes a heating system to prevent freezing of water and bio-toilet tanks. Its windshield is equipped with a heating mechanism to automatically defrost fog that accumulates on the glass, ensuring clear visibility even in harsh winters.
