Tejas MK 1A Production Gains Momentum: HAL’s Nagpur Plant Now Operational
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is facing a shortage of fighter jets, operating with only 31 squadrons instead of the approved 42 squadrons. To address this gap, India has placed a significant order for 83 Tejas MK 1A aircraft under the Make in India initiative. However, delays in component supply from an American company had slowed production.

In a positive development, HAL’s Nagpur plant is now operational, and the first Tejas MK 1A aircraft is expected to be delivered next month. Additionally, the first engine supply from the US is set to arrive this month, ensuring smoother production.
The Tejas MK 1A is a 4.5+ generation fighter jet, developed by HAL and DRDO, featuring advanced radar systems and modern missile capabilities. With the Indian Air Force aiming to build a fleet of over 300 Tejas jets in the next decade, this marks a significant step towards self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
Stay tuned for more updates on India’s fighter jet production and defense advancements.
