Neelam Chaturvedi, mother of Nishant Tripathi, has written a long and emotional post that is now going viral on social media. Nishant, a professional actor, ended his life at the Sahara Hotel in Vile Parle, Mumbai. Before taking this extreme step, he placed a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door to prevent anyone from entering. When the hotel staff knocked on the door after his booking time expired and received no response, they attempted to unlock it with a master key. When that also failed, they broke the door and discovered Nishant’s lifeless body inside. Nishant had left behind a suicide note, in which he blamed his wife and her mother for his death.

Now, his mother, Neelam Chaturvedi, has shared a deeply emotional post on Facebook. In her heartfelt message, she wrote that she had helped 46,000 women as a social activist, successfully securing justice for 37,000 of them. She trained thousands of women to become self-reliant. However, today, she feels completely shattered, like a living corpse. She wrote, “I always believed that my son would perform my last rites, but what happened instead? My daughter, Prachi, had to perform her elder brother’s last rites. I have fought many battles in life, but today, I am broken.”
“You see me alive, but I am already dead inside.”
Neelam Chaturvedi continued, “You may see me as a living person, but the truth is, I am already dead inside. Today, I feel like a living corpse. From the age of 16 until the last 45 years, I dedicated every moment of my life with sincerity and honesty to fighting for women’s rights, gender equality, and eradicating discrimination from society. At 18, I was arrested for the first time during a protest, and that was just the beginning—countless struggles, movements, and battles for justice followed. Through SAKHI Kendra and other means, I have helped over 46,000 women in distress, secured justice for more than 37,000, and empowered thousands by providing them with employment and training. I never sought personal gain. I never built a bank balance, nor did I accumulate wealth.”‘
A grieving mother wrote:
“He was supposed to perform my last rites, but…”
She continues, *”My only wealth was the love and respect I received from people across the world. I raised my two children alone, and I have always been proud of that. But I never complained; instead, I always thanked God. I never questioned Him.
My son, Nishant—he was my everything. Both my children loved me dearly, but Nishant was my friend, my companion, and my confidant. He was my strength, the one who gave me the energy to live and work. My life is now over. My son, Nishant, has left me. I have become a living corpse.
He was supposed to perform my last rites, but today, I have performed my son’s last rites at ‘ECO-MOKSHA’ in Mumbai. My daughter, Prachi, bid farewell to her elder brother. Please give strength to me and my daughter, Prachi, so that we can bear this immense loss.”*
