After Donald Trump took power in the United States, the very definition of diplomacy changed. Traditionally, diplomacy dictated that even if friendship was lacking at the ground level, formal language should remain respectful. However, since Trump’s arrival, the tone of diplomatic conversations has shifted dramatically. Trump is known for speaking bluntly, and this habit led to a heated argument between him and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky inside the White House. It was one of the rare instances where two world leaders clashed so openly during a meeting. Trump was aggressive in pressuring Zelensky to end the war with Russia, while Zelensky stood his ground. In a major blow to Ukraine, the U.S. has now halted its financial aid to the country.

Europe, too, is growing increasingly concerned. The reason is that Trump’s administration is actively considering whether the U.S. should exit NATO. NATO primarily consists of European countries, with only a few exceptions, including the U.S. and Turkey. The alliance is based on the principle that if any member nation is attacked, all others will come to its defense. This is why most European nations rely on NATO and seek American support in conflicts. However, many of Trump’s close allies, including Elon Musk, believe that the U.S. should leave this alliance.
Elon Musk argues that NATO does not serve any real interest for America. Instead, it drains U.S. resources while benefiting only Europe—especially since European nations spend significantly less on their own defense and rely heavily on American military power. In addition to Musk, Trump’s close associate and social media influencer Gunther Igleman has also advocated for the U.S. to exit NATO, the United Nations, and even the World Bank. Trump’s own stance suggests that he is seriously considering such recommendations. He has repeatedly criticized Europe, urging it to take responsibility for its own security.
Trump’s Warning: “At This Rate, We’ll End Up Like Europe”
After his argument with Zelensky, Trump faced accusations of being too close to Vladimir Putin. However, he responded in his characteristic style. “We shouldn’t waste our time worrying about Vladimir Putin,” Trump said. “Instead, we should focus on stopping the crimes being committed in America by immigrants. They are committing gang rapes and murders. If this continues, we’ll end up like Europe.”
