Israel Imposes Ban on Goods and Supplies to Gaza Amid Ongoing Tensions
On Sunday, Israel imposed a ban on the entry of all goods and supplies into the Gaza Strip. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office did not provide specific details about this decision but warned that if Hamas does not accept the U.S. proposal, the consequences could be even more severe. This announcement has further escalated tensions in the region. Israel took this step due to Hamas’ refusal to comply with the ceasefire agreement.

The first phase of the Israel-Hamas ceasefire ended on Saturday. So far, both sides have not engaged in talks regarding the second phase. Under the agreement, Hamas was supposed to release the remaining hostages in exchange for an Israeli withdrawal and a permanent ceasefire. Previously, Israel stated that it supported extending the first phase of the ceasefire until Ramadan and Passover or until April 20. This proposal reportedly came from Steve Witkoff, a former Middle East envoy under the Trump administration.
Under the proposal, Hamas would release half of the hostages on the first day and the rest only after an agreement on a permanent ceasefire was reached. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed this plan. However, Hamas senior official Mahmoud Mardawi responded to Netanyahu’s statement, saying that it clearly indicates Israel is rejecting previously made agreements.
Israel maintains that the U.S.-proposed extension of the ceasefire is a crucial step toward peace and stability. However, Hamas has yet to issue an official response regarding the proposal.
Analysts believe that Israel’s decision to block supplies could further worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The ongoing attacks have already created a dire situation, with thousands of lives lost and millions affected.
Israel has warned that if Hamas does not accept the ceasefire, the situation could deteriorate further. Additionally, Israeli officials have stated that they will not hesitate to take further action if necessary.
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has deepened, and the shortage of essential supplies has significantly impacted daily life. While the international community has made multiple efforts to resolve this crisis, a concrete solution remains elusive.
