Former captain Moin Khan said on Friday that Pakistan’s current poor state in cricket couldn’t get any worse. He emphasized that it is time for the authorities to start rebuilding the team, where experienced players must justify their selection through consistent performances. Pakistan was eliminated from the Champions Trophy after failing to win a single match on home soil.

The former wicketkeeper stated, “I have been hearing comments from many former players these days. Since we are already losing, why not form a new team? What could be worse than this? We may lose, but at least we will be trying something different.”
Moin Khan clarified that he was not questioning the talent of the current players but stressed that every player must prove their worth through consistent performances. He rejected the idea that Pakistan lacked cricketing talent, saying, “Our real issue is that we do not properly provide opportunities, prepare, and encourage new players. The problem is that we have different policies for different players.”
It is worth noting that Pakistan was hosting an ICC tournament after 29 years, but they were eliminated without winning a single match. The team started their campaign with a heavy 60-run loss to New Zealand in Karachi, followed by a six-wicket defeat to arch-rivals India in Dubai. Their match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi was eventually abandoned due to rain.
