Panipat: Haryana’s “Golden Boy” Neeraj Chopra quietly married former tennis player Himani Moor in January this year, without any grand celebrations. Later, he shared pictures on social media to inform everyone about it. Now, Neeraj Chopra has revealed why he kept his wedding a secret and how his love story began.
Neeraj Chopra, while speaking to a TV channel, said, “I knew her, and her family also had a sports background, just like mine. Her father and mother were kabaddi players, while her brothers were boxers and wrestlers. She herself was a tennis player, but after an injury, she shifted her focus to her studies.”

Talking about how being athletes helped them connect easily, Neeraj said that since their families had a background in sports, they got the opportunity to meet. Their conversations started just like two athletes talking to each other. Initially, everything was quite normal, but gradually, they fell in love with each other, and things moved forward from there.
In a brief social media post in January, Neeraj shared pictures from the ceremony held in Himachal Pradesh on January 16. He wrote, “Grateful for every blessing that brought us to this moment.”
On the other hand, Neeraj’s uncle, Bheem Chopra, told The Indian Express that the marriage was arranged by both families. He confirmed that the wedding took place on January 16 in Himachal Pradesh, with both families present, as per their mutual decision.
Although only family members were invited to the ceremony, Chopra mentioned that most of Neeraj’s close friends were aware of his marriage. He said, “Family and friends knew about it. I wanted to return to training because the season was about to start. I felt it would only be possible after the season. Inviting everyone takes time, so we kept it private and went ahead with the wedding.”
