In a conversation with Fever FM, Kirti revealed that the hierarchy among actors (the junior-senior order) had a significant impact on her. She said, “When Pink came out, I never once thought about who was bigger or smaller in terms of status in the industry. I saw it as a story about three girls. I came from a place where I believed that we are all actors and we are all in this together. But Pink made me feel the concept of a big star and a small star. The people around you make you feel this way.”
Taapsee Received Star Treatment
Kirti pointed out that although the film was about three girls, it was promoted in a way that made it seem like Taapsee received the star treatment after Amitabh Bachchan. She said, “When I saw the trailer, it was filled with Taapsee and Amitabh Bachchan. That was my first shock because I felt that I had also done the film. Shoojit told me, ‘Don’t worry, let the film release.’”
Kirti Felt Side-lined
Kirti added, “I never do PR. I believe that my work should speak for itself. But during the promotions, a PR machinery was put in place for Taapsee Pannu because, in the hierarchy, she came after Mr. Bachchan. Eventually, the film became hers, and she became the ‘Pink Girl.’ I was watching all of this happen in front of me. It was a shock for me because I couldn’t understand it.”
