Major Accident on Prayagraj-Mirzapur Highway
A tragic accident occurred late at night on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway. A Bolero, carrying devotees from Chhattisgarh to the Maha Kumbh for a holy dip at the Sangam, collided head-on with an oncoming bus. The impact was so severe that the Bolero was completely crushed. Ten passengers in the Bolero lost their lives, while several people on the bus were also injured. In total, 19 people sustained injuries.
The accident caused chaos at the scene, with cries for help echoing in the area. The loud crash drew locals to the spot, who quickly informed the police. Upon arrival, the police, along with local residents, worked to rescue the injured and rushed them to the nearest hospital for treatment.
The tragic incident took place in the Meja police station area of Prayagraj district on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur National Highway. The group of devotees from Chhattisgarh was traveling in the Bolero to Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh, while the bus was en route from Prayagraj to Raigarh. Unfortunately, all passengers in the Bolero lost their lives. The injured include passengers from the bus as well.
Police arrived at the scene, took possession of the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination. Authorities are working to identify the deceased and inform their families. Reports suggest that all the deceased were residents of Korba. Meanwhile, the injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver may have dozed off, leading to the high-speed vehicle losing control. Police have begun a formal investigation and will provide further details after completing their inquiry.

CM Yogi Expresses Grief, Orders Authorities to Arrange Treatment
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed deep sorrow over the accident. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and instructed officials to reach the site immediately to expedite relief efforts. He also directed the district administration to ensure proper treatment for the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
What the Police Said
DCP Vivek Chandra Yadav of Yamunanagar, Prayagraj, stated that the families of the deceased are being informed. Most of the injured sustained minor injuries, and many returned home after receiving first aid.
CMO’s Statement
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) A.K. Tiwari told ANI that all passengers in the Bolero lost their lives in the accident. The victims were traveling from Chhattisgarh to Prayagraj, while the bus was en route from Prayagraj to Raigarh.
