Fastest Player to Score 2500 Runs in ODIs
The third ODI between India and England is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to bowl first. India’s start was not ideal, as captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just 1 run. However, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli took charge of the innings. At the time of writing, India had scored 120 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 18 overs, with Gill and Kohli building a 114-run partnership.
Shubman Gill Breaks Hashim Amla’s Record
Shubman Gill has achieved a major milestone by becoming the fastest player in ODI history to score 2500 runs. He reached this landmark in just 50 innings. Previously, the record was held by South African legend Hashim Amla, who took 51 innings to reach 2500 runs. Gill has now surpassed Amla.
Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq is third on the list, having achieved the feat in 52 innings.
Big Names Like Viv Richards and Jonathan Trott
West Indies legend Viv Richards is the fourth fastest to reach 2500 ODI runs, achieving it in 56 innings. England’s Jonathan Trott also reached the milestone in 56 innings.
With this latest achievement, Shubman Gill now sits at the top of the list. According to statistics, he has represented India in 50 ODIs, scoring 2536 runs at an impressive average of 60.38 and a strike rate of 101.72.
