Who is Poonam Gupta?

Poonam Gupta is an Assistant Commandant in the CRPF and currently serves as a Personal Security Officer (PSO) at Rashtrapati Bhavan. She gained national recognition when she was seen escorting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, leading to speculations that she was his female commando. She has also led the women’s contingent at the 74th Republic Day Parade, showcasing her leadership and dedication.

Born in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, Poonam has a strong academic background. She holds a degree in Mathematics, a Master’s in English Literature, and a B.Ed from Jiwaji University, Gwalior. She cleared the UPSC CAPF exam in 2018, securing an All India Rank of 81, and was first posted in Naxal-affected areas of Bihar before her current assignment at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
