
CBFC Implements Several Changes in the Film ‘Chhava’; ‘Haramzada’ Word Muted

New Delhi: The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has instructed several changes in the much-awaited film Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna. As the film is set to release in theaters on February 14, promotional events have revealed that the censor board has recommended modifications to certain dialogues and scenes.
Major Change: Muting of the Word ‘Hara***’**
The CBFC has muted the word “Hara****”* used in the film. This decision was made to ensure a smoother theatrical release. The word appeared in a particular scene, but it has now been censored.
Dialogue Modifications
Several major dialogues have been altered:
“Mughal Sultanate ka zehar” (The poison of the Mughal Empire) has been changed to “At that time, many rulers and sultanates were trying to survive.”
“Khoon toh aakhir Mughals ka hi hai” (After all, it’s Mughal blood) has been modified to “Khoon toh hai Aurang ka hi” (After all, it’s Aurang’s blood).
The word “Ameen” has been replaced with “Jai Bhavani” to respect religious sentiments.
Age-Related Changes
“16 years” has been changed to “14 years.”
“22-year-old boy” has been modified to “24-year-old boy.”
“9 years” has been replaced with “many years.”
Scene and Text Modifications
The CBFC has instructed the makers to remove scenes depicting Maratha warriors wearing sarees to maintain historical accuracy.
Additionally, an audio-text disclaimer will be added to clarify that the film does not intend to defame or misrepresent historical facts but is based on a historical work.
Film Rating and Runtime
The CBFC certified Chhava on February 1, 2025.
The film received a UA 16+ rating.
The certified runtime is 161 minutes and 50 seconds (approximately 2 hours and 42 minutes).
About the Film
Chhava is a period drama based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film stars Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, Divya Dutta, Vineet Kumar Singh, Diana Penty, and Santosh Juvekar in key roles.
