The preparations for the counting of votes in the Delhi Assembly elections are complete. The counting process will begin on Saturday at 8 AM. First, the counting of postal ballots will take place, followed by the counting of votes from the EVMs. The initial trends will start coming in after 9 AM, and by noon, the party positions will begin to become clearer.

Counting at 19 Centers
Extensive security arrangements have been made at 19 counting centers across 11 districts of Delhi. Special preparations have been made at the headquarters of the Aam Aadmi Party, BJP, and Congress to stay updated with the counting results in real-time. Senior party leaders, media personnel, and party workers will be present at the headquarters to discuss the developments.
Candidates Can Also Monitor
The Chief Electoral Officer stated that candidates’ agents and representatives have been allowed to monitor these security arrangements. They can observe 24×7 security surveillance through CCTV feeds. Accommodation has also been arranged for them. They are permitted to access the inner security perimeter of the strong room from time to time to inspect the security measures.
Clearer Picture Expected by Afternoon
According to the Election Commission, vote counting will take place at three locations each in New Delhi and North-West districts, while four districts will have two counting centers each, and five districts will have one center each. The counting will begin with postal ballots in the morning, followed by the counting of EVM votes. By the afternoon, the election results are expected to become clear.
60.42% Voter Turnout
As per the voting conducted on February 5 in Delhi, 60.42% of voters across the capital’s 11 districts exercised their franchise. Among the districts, North-East Delhi recorded the highest voter turnout, while South-East Delhi had the lowest.

All Parties Satisfied with Election Preparations
According to Delhi’s Chief Electoral Officer, R. Ellis Vaz, the verification of election documents, including Form 17C for all 70 assembly constituencies, has been completed. The process was conducted in the presence of central election observers, candidates, their agents, and election officials. No complaints have been registered by any candidate.
Tough Contest Between AAP and BJP
The ruling AAP is striving for a fourth consecutive term, while the BJP is making an all-out effort to return to power after 25 years. In the 2020 elections, AAP won 62 out of 70 seats, while BJP managed only 8 seats. The Congress failed to secure a single seat.
In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured a vote share of 53.57%, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received 38.51%, and the Congress got 4.26%. The voting for the Delhi Assembly elections took place on February 5. A total of 699 candidates contested in the elections.
